Lauren Judith Miller, age 79, of Chicago, IL passed away May 17, 2026. Beloved mother of Eran Miller and mother-in-law of Steven Smutny. Her life was a vibrant testament to resilience and rhythm, defined by an unwavering dedication to healing others and a joyful heart that found its cadence in movement and service. Lauren was a pioneer during Israel's early years of statehood, and it was there she discovered her life’s calling, nursing. Her career was not merely a profession but an extension of her compassionate, empathetic nature. Lauren will be remembered as a nurturing mother, an ever-supportive friend, a voracious reader, and a proud marathon runner who never shied from hard work. Adventurous in life—although not in cuisine—Lauren had boundless energy, and loved dancing anytime and anywhere, especially to Motown music. She taught her sons to meet challenges with grace and bravery. May her memory be a blessing, a comfort, and an enduring inspiration to all who knew and loved her. A memorial will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11am at the Union League of Chicago. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lauren's memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/) or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org/) would be welcomed and appreciated.
